Undanewneon asked me how I do the glowy thing on many of my drawings, thought I’d make a little tutorial for fun.
Idk if this counts as a peeve more of an art-astronomy pet peeve
but when people draw the cresent moon and where the dark, shaddowed part of the moon is they put in stars
like studdenly that part of the moon is invisible instead of just being in the shadow
like wtf
wait no peOPLE ACTUALLY DO THIS???
really stupid question though but like, aren’t there stars in front of the moon??? like??? space isn’t two dimensional so someone putting a couple stars in front of the shadow wouldn’t necessarily be wrong?? because aren’t there stars all around in space and?????? im just going to be confused forever frick uvu;
hun if there was a star infront of the moon we’d be fucking dead

Okay, so, you must be looking at this picture, going, “WHAT THE fuck? That’s not how colors go with the different races.”
I know, me too.
Earlier, I saw this little thing going around:
And everybody was like “THANK THE LORD” and “I’LL USE THIS” and stuff like that! So I was like, hey wait, this does NOT look right to me. So to show that I didn’t think this was a good reference, I made an image, with adjusted facial features, and painted them using the color palletes this provides, using the middle color as the midtone, and the right as highlight and left as shadow.
I think the white people are ridiculous. I’m sorry, but the “Pale Caucasian” is like, what even. That might be more mid tone but… not pale. And the middle, wtf. no. just stop.
The Black ones are alright, but I think the middle could be less saturated, and the far right one was too light to really be a dark black. Blacks go so much darker than that.
The asians…. Pale was alright, though it should have been paler. The Midtones and Darks though…. shadow was way too dark for the midtone, so it turned out like shite. Especially the Mid tone asian. I couldn’t even use filters to fix them on the “fixed” image:
anyway, what i’m trying to say is
DON’T USE THAT COLOR THING AS A REFERENCE HOLY SHIT.
